UC Berkeley Professor T.J. Clark Discusses "Picasso and Truth" on Sundays at the National Gallery of Art.
Timothy James Clark, the George C. and Helen N. Pardee Chair and professor of modern art at the University of California, Berkeley, will deliver the 58th A.W. Mellon Lectures in Fine Arts at the National Gallery of Art at 2 p.m. each Sunday through May 3 (except April 12).
The A. W. Mellon Lectures in the Fine Arts were established by the National Gallery of Art's Board of Trustees "to bring to the people of the United States the results of the best contemporary thought and scholarship bearing upon the subject of the Fine Arts." Prof. Clark's research takes a new direction from traditional study of style and iconography. He regards modern paintings as striving to articulate the social and political conditions of modern life.
For more information on the series "Picasso and Truth," please see the National Gallery of Art website.
