The following instructors participate in UC Berkeley Extension's Personal Financial Planning and Wealth Management Programs.
Cal Financial Professionals is open to all UC Berkeley students/ alumni/ employees and is not affiliated with UC Berkeley Extension.
RICHARD P. ARZAGA, B.A., is a fee-based comprehensive financial advisor with AIG Advisor Group, specializing in life planning, wealth optimization, and legacy creation. His financial planning process integrates the values, mission, vision, and goals of business owners, entrepreneurs, and high-net-worth families. He holds a bachelor's degree from San Jose State University, and did graduate studies in management at Northwestern University.
KURT CARRASQUILLA, M.B.A., Honored Instructor for 2007, is a vice president of wealth management for Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in San Jose, Calif. He has been advising individual and corporate clients since 1993. He has been teaching in UC Berkeley Extension's Personal Financial Planning program since 1998, and is the inaugural winner of the Tim Kochis Award for Teaching Excellence. Additionally, Carrasquilla serves as chair on the advisory board for the Personal Financial Planning program and enjoys helping his students in and out of the classroom.
SAUNDRA DAVIS, B.S., M.S., Saundra Davis is a financial planner and management consultant with 15 years of experience in grant writing and 10 years providing capacity building and technical assistance to nonprofit and local government agencies. She holds a bachelor of science in management and a master of science degree in financial planning from Golden Gate University (GGU). As President and CEO of Sage Financial Solutions, Davis provides comprehensive personal financial planning services for individuals, small business owners, and staff members of community-based organizations. She is active in the FPA San Francisco Chapter Pro Bono Committee and is a member of Pro Bono National Advisory Committee. She dedicates much of her time to volunteering in community-based organizations that focus on asset-building for the working poor. She frequently speaks on this topic at conferences across the country.
IRA H. FATEMAN, CFP, is a Certified Financial Planner™ with more than 14 years experience in financial services. His professional career includes counseling in schools and community settings. A Registered Investment Advisor since 1999, he holds a Personal Financial Planning certificate from the UC Berkeley Extension. He has trained financial advisory firms nationally in relationship-building skills, and presented at regional and national professional conferences. As a partner in SAS Financial Advisors, Fateman built a growing financial-planning and investment management firm based on his expertise in employer-granted stock options, estate, investment and retirement planning. He is an active member of the Financial Planning Association, San Francisco Chapter, and its Pro Bono committee. He earned a B.S. from Cornell University in Industrial and Labor Relations and an M.Ed. in Counseling from Northeastern University.
MICHAEL FONTANELLO, B.S., CPA, a partner of Fontanello, Duffield & Otake, LLP, has more than 20 years of public accounting experience. His practice focuses on income and estate taxes, accounting, and auditing, with an emphasis on nonprofits. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the California Society of CPAs, and the San Francisco Bay Area CPA Society.
RALPH HOCHSTEIN, J.D., is an independent consultant to the financial services industry. He previously served as vice president of personal trust for American Express Financial Advisors. Prior to joining American Express, he practiced law, working extensively with estates and corporations. He holds a bachelor's degree from Syracuse University, and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
VINCENT LI, M.S., CPA, is a consultant with Delagnes, Mitchell & Linder. As a former manager at Ernst & Young, he focused on tax issues and planning opportunities related to the software and biotechnology industries. He has more than 14 years of tax and accounting experience in the areas of real estate, small business, and personal tax planning.
WILLIAM P. MOHR, CCIM, is CEO of Mohr Financial and has been an active real estate investor/developer/broker for the past 20 years. He is also a senior course leader for the Commercial Real Estate Institute (CIREI) and is a regular speaker at local and national conferences. He is a past president of the Northern California CCIM Chapter.
GEORGE NOCETI, M.B.A., M.A., is a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has also been a school principal as well having put three children through college and is an expert in college funding and planning.
PETER PHILIPP, M.B.A., CFA, manages the San Francisco office of Cambridge Investment Research. His nearly 20 years of experience in the financial services industry includes positions at Wells Fargo and Accenture. He specializes in comprehensive financial planning and investment management for business owners and high-net-worth clients. Philipp holds a master of business administration from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder.
