IABA's Purpose
For decades the International Association of Boalt Alumni (IABA) has dedicated itself to facilitating and maintaining contacts both among overseas alumni, as well as between alumni and Berkeley Law and its Faculty.  Although its acitivity is primarily in Europe, it is open to all alumni and former visiting scholars.  As a long-standing alumni organisation in Europe, IABA is has undertaken to play an active role in Berkeley Law's development of an international alumni network. In this respect it also welcomes contacts with other alumni organisations.

History and Organisation
IABA has a long history: In 1967 European LLM alumni decided to found an ineternational alumni association This was the birth of IABA. In 1968 the first annual general meeting was held in Strassbourg and IABA was formally constituted under French law. In 1984 it was subsequently incorporated as a non-proift society under Swiss law and is domiciled in Switzerland today.

Annual Meeting
Since 1968 IABA holds an annual meeting with general assembly in a different city each year, usually in Europe. These events include aan eventr with a broad social programme, in which spouses and accompanying persons are welcome.
