Awards and Scholarships Overview
Mary Wiley Stecker and Prytanean Scholarship Awards (three awards at $2000 each):
These are Endowed Leadership Scholarships created from the bequest of Mary Wiley Stecker, Class of 1938. The first awards were given in Fall 2011.
Rowena Hamilton Award ($2000):
The Rowena Hamilton Award, established by Prytanean Alumnae in 1995, assists women undergraduate student athletes who are active in Cal Athletics. The purpose of the award is to recognize athletic ability, community service, and academic performance.
Prytanean Faculty Award ($25,000):
Since 1986, Prytanean Alumnae, Inc. annually awards a financial grant to an outstanding woman junior faculty member on the Berkeley campus. The original award of $10,000 is now $25,000. Through a competitive process, the winner is chosen for her record as a distinguished teacher, demonstrated scholarly achievement, and success as a role model for students at the University of California, Berkeley. This monetary award is unrestricted.
Prytanean Prize ($1250):
This annual award is given to a UC Berkeley female student with junior standing and recognizes campus and community service as well as academic excellence. A GPA of 3.2 is required.
Ritter Prize ($1250):
This annual award is given to a Prytanean woman of senior standing, in recognition of her service to Prytanean, the UC Berkeley campus, and the community.
Campus Projects (varies)
Special Project grants are given to organizations and groups which involve collegiate Prytaneans, and help to further Prytanean ideals, especially the needs and interests of women on the UC Berkeley campus.
